PVRA has consistently fostered a lifelong love of the sport of swimming in our children. Our swimmers have gone on to swim competitively in both high school and college (and beyond!). It is our goal to have our kids become good swimmers while having lots of fun during the summer swim team season. They will experience the benefit of 1-on-1 coaching, fun exercises and challenging games during practices.
Our Head Coach, Ronnie, and his team of amazing coaches are creating a detailed, fun filled swim team calendar with lots of fun activities for our swimmers. There will be dedicated coaches to each group to ensure that everyone gets the coaching they need. Each age group has a coach and an assistant so that there are two coaches in the water with the kids at all times. In addition, there will be coaches in training/meet helpers in the water at practice to assist with our youngest swim team members.
*Member please note: the pool will be closed to members until noon during swim team season. We apologize for any inconvenience.
SWIM TEAM FEES:
$170 for 1st swimmer
$145 for 2nd swimmer
$115 for each additional swimmer
To register go to My Account > My Forms/Paperwork and complete the Swim Team 2024 Registration form.
PARTICIPATION & EVALUATIONS 2024:
The team is open to all swimmers from rising First Graders (kids born in 2018 or before) to age 16. After being evaluated by Ronnie, the Head Coach, they will be placed either on the Swim Team or get more information on possible small group pre-swim team sessions. Swimmers MUST be able to swim, UNASSISTED, the length of the pool in order to be considered for swim team. See more details below. Evaluations will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 10:00 am. Important parent information will be shared that day as well.
EVALUATIONS DETAILS:
Who needs to be evaluated?
Anyone new to the team.
Returning swimmers from Pre-Swim.
Returning swimmers from Swim Team who DID NOT compete in a meet.
How do evaluations work?
The kids will be asked to swim one length of the pool (attempting Freestyle) to make the Swim Team. (Important: They don't need to be good at this, but they need to be able to get across the pool independently!)
Lifeguards are IN THE WATER with the kids during evaluations so they have someone right there if they need a little help.
NOTE: Children who can float on their back and their belly, and are willing to put their heads under water, will qualify for the Pre-Swim Team Group.
PRACTICES:
Swim practice is five days a week and will start Monday, June 17, 2024 (contingent upon end of school year) and run through Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
**NO PRACTICE ON JULY 4 OR 5!!**
10:45-11:30: 8 and Under (must be entering 1st grade or higher in the fall and pass the Evaluation)
Please note that here is no practice on meet days.
Swimmers should have goggles, and we recommend that those with long hair either tie it back or wear a cap (it's much easier to swim that way).
Please arrive at practice 5 minutes early and be ready to swim!

A BIT ABOUT OUR HEAD SWIM COACH:
Some of you may already recognize the name from his position with RAC and our Ridgefield High School Swim Team and we are lucky to have his expertise to help foster a love of swimming throughout our club.
Some background: Through High School & College Ronnie was involved with the Vet Park Swim Team, a summer program back in Middletown CT and that’s where he gained his loving for coaching. Growing up swimming at NMYB, Middletown High School & York College of PA, he knew that he wanted to make coaching something he does forever. After college in 2016, he started coaching at Wesleyan University, started his own team (Middlesex Aquatics Club), and head coached both Mercy & Xavier High Schools. Now he is currently the Head Age Group Coach with RAC & Coach both the girls & boys Ridgefield high school teams. His coaching philosophy stems from educating these kids about life through the sport of swimming and ensuring each kid has the best experience in the best sport in the world!
We look forward to seeing you at the pool!
